The Moncrieff Lab is based at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, where we work closely with the museum’s ornithology collection of ~30,000 bird specimens. This key resource supports research at the University of Oklahoma and beyond, through specimen loans and visits by external researchers.

Our lab’s strong integration with the bird collection offers students hands-on experience in collection management, museum education and outreach activities, and collection of research specimens. Our lab is also closely tied to the Oklahoma Collection of Genomic Resources, where we contribute genomic material for our research on the genetic basis of avian diversity.

If you’d like to support ornithological research at the Sam Noble Museum, please consider donating to the Sam Noble Museum Ornithology Research and Operations Endowment Fund. Your contribution helps advance avian science, education, and curation of the bird collection.

OU is home to a vibrant ornithology community. In addition to the Moncrieff Lab, several other research groups at the University of Oklahoma focus on birds, creating a collaborative environment for students and researchers:
-
Bentz lab – avian behavioral endocrinology and genomics
-
Bridge lab – avian behavior, migration, and physiology
-
Kelly lab – avian migration biology, aeroecology
-
Ross lab – avian ecology and conservation
